Holy Ghost Orthodox Christian Church plan nixed by Planning Commission

As the plan was presented this evening, the Holy Ghost Christian Church development for senior housing has been denied.

The Planning Commission discussion centered on safety and DCOMM issues.

I am told the applicant can re-apply.

I will post additional information as I receive it.

Give Glory to God in the Highest!
Congratulations to the people of Holy Ghost and thank you to the Borough Council of Phoenixville!

My mom was led there by a bus to express why this was needed for our town. She was then told by those around her that the people of the church never said it was not needed. She froze in the room, later then normally awake, to speak to council.

Why was she told she had to go and also sign petions for this when the town has other options out there and the church needs the road, parking and land?

Mr Evens - you mislead your community of aged who trusted that they had to go speak!
That was not very kind of you !

To the above regarding your mother- it appears this seems to be the norm and NOT the exception. Isn't it terrible?

Yes. So much for the overwhelming concern for the elderly. Are they simply an end to a means for some people? Disgusting.

REGARDING HORRIBLE HOUSING CONDITIOINS ARTICLE:

On the Borough’s action, Council President Henry Wagner said: “I’m disappointed that the Housing Authority of Chester County hasn’t seen fit with ample notice to fix the conditions, that the Borough has been forced to this. I look forward to working with the Housing Authority as they make the necessary repairs.”

"WHAT WILL BOROUGH DO WHEN THE CONTRACTS UNDER EVANS MGT EXPIRE AND THE SAME ENTITY RUNS THE PROPOSED HOUSING AT STARR AND BRIDGE ?? WHAT MAY BE NICE AT ST PETERS PLACE NOW, WILL NOT BE THE SAME IN 5-40 YEARS WHEN ALL THE CONTRACTS ARE SOLD, TRANSFERRED OR EXPIRED..." and then... the church will have no control of lot use, roads or their property neighbors, if they still have a church at all !

Five to 40 years down the road? I don't think it will take that long for one old lady or one wheeelchair to be nailed attempting to cross that intersection. This process has little concern for the elderly or handicapped persons who may live there and everything to do with the bucks that could be made...IMHO

Who are the members of the church board and where do they live?

Are any of them a part of the community or borough which will be impacted by the zoning and housing they plan for the property ?

Blogs read they are all fairly new or not a part of this community ?
