As far as I can see the CDC has accomplished A thru I of all of its purposes. I don't see what all the negative comments directed at the CDC are about. I am fairly new here but in the 3 years I have been hear i see them accomplishing all of these items.
So then my question becomes why do we spend so much of our emotional efforts directed towards bashing the CDC when it seems to me they are just doing their job.
All that i know is I remember Pville before the redevelopment and now I know it during the redevelopment. And please don't pull rank on me about living here for 50 years because I have plenty of family that were born and raised here so I know just what it was during the steel days, after, and of course during our great revitalization. My family agrees because this is what they have always envisioned for Phoenixville - maybe not the exact picture but they always wished it to be a family fun place for family entertainment and shopping and eating. Someone warned me not to get involved in the bloggers because they are just a handful of grumblers who continue to bash Pville for everything and they were right. Sorry they were right.

Since you are so sure the CDC has accomplished all of its purposes, please enlighten the rest of us and list those accomplishments.
To "anon 5:14 pm" - I don't have to make any lists. If you read what I wrote I stated the the results are in the pudding. Walk downtown (you know that bustling place where family and friends go to enjoy) and tell me what has HELPED spur that growth. Surely not our slooooow council who just want to "table" every issue that is presented to them. The progress downtown is nothing short of staggering to me and out of town people. Like I said, someone warned me about the bloggers and how they just complain and grumble about everything and you are proving that. You can't even give credit where credit is due. I'll tell you what - you tell me who is responsible for the turnaround downtown because it surely isn't you folks (grumble, grumble, grumble). You should be thanking the CDC for giving you something to grumble about in your life.
other member of the cdc are:
James O'Brien
and
John Luttman
Does anyone have any phone numbers or contact information for the members of the CDC?

If you really knew how things happened in this town, you'd be able to list the accomplishments without even having to think about it.
Mealy-mouthed cheerleading without any facts to support it is far worse than the constructive criticism which one can find on these blogs.
some of the stuff that's happened would have happened whether or not there was a cdc.
why is everybody so hung up on this.
its a nice thing to have, but i dont want to be paying for it.
What constructive criticism have you seen on this blog? The key word being "constructive". But you definitely have the criticism part down. Like I said, the proof is in the pudding. I don't even need a list, just walk downtown and start your own.
Trees
Sidewalks
Businesses
Music
Festivals
Fountain
Murals
Benches (your favorite blue)
Lightposts (your favorite blue)
Ferris Wheel (I know you all love that one)
Helping the HUD folks in housing disputes
Grants (to fund all of this)
Lights
Flags
Entertain Jeff Senley (quote from Jeff)
Shows up for meetings (unlike some council memb)
etc, etc, etc...
OK, now make your list of things that the people you support and their accomplishments..............
What? no list, no accomplishments, but whatever do you mean? Surely there must be ONE thing you can list? Oh, I can list one for you: Jeff helped pass the CDC contract by not showing up for the meeting. Two thumbs up and a big smile over here.

Oh sure it would have happened on its own. You know, the fairy grant mother would have come along and sprinkled her dust on the town and "PUFF" - instant bustling downtown. I think the Magic Kingdom is in Orlando and tickets are cheap.

Glad to see you're signing off on your blog entries with an appropriate signature.
Note to self....don't feed the troll....don't feed the troll
Thank you, Anonymous 8:49, for the addition of the two members of the CDC.

Well, this seems to be a fact.
Am I reading it correctly that Barry Cassidy makes 125,000 per YEAR for basically writing grant apps? I have written grants along with other tasks. That amount is about 4 times the going rate. What a waste of money at a time when people are hurting. And the predictions are that this is just the beginning of a recession. How did they justify this? How did he get that job? What a scam. It seems like the timing of the request was odd too, done just so he wouldn't lose a paycheck during budget discussions. Get a few college students who will do it for class credit, and you won't need to pay anybody. Explore the alternatives, before you burden the taxpayers.
Can you imagine a Phoenixville with you coconuts running the town.
Does anyone have any phone numbers or contact information for the members of the CDC?

That's a really good one...we don't even have the correct phone number for Council President of the borough!
