Last night, I sat transfixed and humbled by the privilege of witnessing history unfold.
My eyes were torn between the constantly updated roll call of the states on my television screen and the competing news from my computer. Not daring to believe completely in the early good news, but also not willing to give up one iota of hope, there were times I know I held my breath.
When the suspense became almost excrutiatingly unbearable, at exactly 11 p.m., the very moment of announcement, a great, joyous noise of positive energy was released from Chicago's Grant Park.
Spontaneously, and with utter delight, I found my voice was united with millions of Americans while cameras stationed around the world proved the enthusiasm and unrestrained agreement with our Country's decision on election day.
Barack Obama, the 44th President of the United States!
As I listened to the first words spoken by our new President-elect, I felt the return of emotions he stirred in me in previous speeches.
I felt hope.
Something I haven't felt for a very long time.
I felt satisfied.
I believe our Country will be on the path to a newly defined and bright future.
I felt safer.
Because I believe there are no hidden agendas, no ulterior motives in this man's reasoning for seeking the highest office in our land.
I believe Barack Obama truly WANTS to do his job. He wants to do it in the right way.
I also felt pride. A deep pride that resonated within and grew from the complete shattering of the last of racial barriers.
Americans proved that we measure Barack Obama's character by his past, his ethics, his work, and his vision for the future, not by the color of his skin.
Congratulations to the 44th President of the United States, Barack Obama!
May God bless him, and may God bless the United States of America!

Finally, we agree on something! Go Obama!
I wish I could agree with your enthusiasm and optimistic outlook, but, alas, he is a politician and I'm sorry to say it, but just about all politicians lie. Whether it is just their nature or they need to as part of their job, most lie and cannot be trusted. Hopefully I am proven wrong, but only time will tell.
Safer? How? What in 0bama's long history as Senator (2 years) shows that we will be any "safer" under him?
Since 9/11, there have been no attacks on American soil - is that because what we are doing under President Bush is working, or is it because the terrorists have stopped trying? If you don't think they've stopped trying, then how are you going to get "safer"?
Face it - 0bama has almost no record and no experience - a blank slate - and people are projecting their ideal view of a President onto him because he has no track record to dissuade them. Almost like a fictional or cult-like character.
As for me, I will promise this - I will give 0bama the same level of respect and support that the Democrats gave to President Bush. Deal?
I too was impressed by his speeches on hope and change for our country.
So far he's delivering big time on his promise to CHANGE Washington. He has two definite Washington insiders chosen for his cabinet.
He's stuck between a rock and a hard place. His money came from both Washington insiders AND the Liberal Left.
And so it goes...talk is cheap unless you are a taxpayer forced to pay for that talk.

Sorry I don't think along your lines. Its obvious that different opinions are not tolerated from this blog. But I would expect nothing less. Good to see some things don't change.

I will not permit propoganda or flaming, and I will especially not tolerate racism in any form.
