Please help

Saint Nicholas Brotherhood of Phoenixville, Pa.

Dear Supporters of the Saint Nicholas Brotherhood,

We would first like to thank you for the support and encouragement you have given us over these last difficult months.

In our conversations with many of you in the past eighteen months, you have given us the strength and determination to step up to the roles of Director of the Saint
Nicholas Brotherhood and face our fears of retaliation and ridicule from Holy Ghost Church board and some of our fellow parishioners.

The legacy of our people and time honored respect for our ancestors has provided strength for all who have worked tirelessly behind the scenes to move our group to
the point where we are today ~ Positioned to defend and protect our heritage: The beloved, hallowed grounds of the Saint Nicholas Brotherhood.

These founders had the foresight to incorporate the SNB in a way that would forever ensure that the land stayed intact and under the watchful eye of the Saint Nicholas Brotherhood, according to the original deed.

It is now under our “Watch” that we face the challenge of defending our heritage from those who would seek to destroy it. We have obtained legal counsels who are dedicated to winning our case in court and also successfully defending the
countersuit that Holy Ghost Church has initiated against the three Directors of the Saint Nicholas Brotherhood and two of our members who assisted in the transition of leadership.

To date we have paid a substantial sum of money from our own personal savings and from donations of a dedicated group of supporters. We have been told that we will need a significant amount more if we are to continue in our cause. We feel we can be successful in our endeavors since the same judge has ruled twice in our favor. We now need the help of friends, neighbors and supporters.

We pray that in this Season of Love, Light and Miracles that our friends, supporters and neighbors will find it in their hearts to help us continue in our efforts to honor the legacy of our founders.

We have set up an account at Phoenixville Federal Bank specifically for our legal fees. If you are in a position to help us, please drop off your donations at any branch of the bank or mail checks directly to the Pikeland Branch. Please indicate
that this is for the Defense Fund for the Saint Nicholas Brotherhood.

ALL DONATIONS WILL REMAIN ANONYMOUS.

God Bless you!

Can an account at the grocery store be setup for this non profit also in order to allow funds to go the the account as well?

This is how we raised all the funds for the new building in the first place. Instead of paying for legal fees to sell land, why not allow the member who want to save the property pay for legal in this manner too.

If you have a non profit number, you can establish the account and then those who chose can donate by their purchase of groceries.

Good luck. Going to make a donation with my next social security check. Every other week will give $50.00.

God bless everyone saving this property - but you need a new priest to save the church too!

I am not a religious person, but this ruthless abuse of power by land-grabbing church "leaders" wielding their sword of excommunication has gotten me very angry. My check goes out today. Good luck!

are there other brotherhood groups within your diocese that can be of support as well?

I support your efforts and also want to keep the entrance to our town open and beautiful without a six story monstrosity. My pension is pretty poor and times are hard. Are there clubs or groups in Phoenixville/Mont Clare that can host fund raising events for these brave people?
I heard that this church also sold the large field that runs on Second Avenue to the same people. If this is true as well, we have more to lose than we know!
Once this land is gone, we cannot ever go back

well the selling off of property just says to me that the higher ups in the diocese know exactly what the future holds for their church...

The ballfield being sold is a rumor. Nothing can be sold legally until 2036 if the lease is not
continiued at that time.

No legal sale is on record.

If the Brotherhood doesn't win this case, the lease is a mute point and all of it will be sold.

Since the lease could never speak, it has always been mute. However, should it no longer have any legal validity it would then become moot.

There was an article on the front page of last week's Inquirer about the sad state of small ethnic Orthodox churches in Phila. Once thriving communities are struggling to stay afloat.

It is my guess that getting rid of every square inch of surplus property is a way to shore up those retirement accounts, especially since the market bottomed out a year ago.

I applaud the love you have for your church, your heritage and God. Unfortunately I don't think some of your leaders share in that love. Most of the leadership has no tie to the community's history. Sadly since they are your leaders, they have a little strength. All you have is ..... God. Pray. I believe God will avenge his real church.

BTW - it's "moot", not "mute".

"Mute" means unable to speak or silent.

"Moot" means irrelevent or of no importance.

Just a spelling peeve of mine.
