Relay for Life and my personal battle

This is the right time to ask for your help in the Relay for Life fight against breast cancer.

Just before Thanksgiving 2009, I was diagnosed with IBC, a form of breast cancer.

December 22 I began treatment at the Cancer Center at Phoenixville Hospital. Last week I finished second stage chemotherapy under the excellent care of Dr. Christopher Holroyde, his assistant, Joanne Hennings, and the staff of oncology nurses and therapists. Each of these individuals on the oncology team are professional, highly skilled, and compassionate, caring individuals.

I join thousands of other Phoenixville area residents who are extremely proud of Phoenixville's Cancer Center staff and their dedication to the intense race to the cure for cancer patients.

Much work still needs to be done in the battle for survival. In support of the efforts to find a cure, my family members chose to create Team Johns, an effort to raise funds for the Relay for Life event in Phoenixville.

To that end, the Johns family will host a fund raising table on First Friday, April 02, 2010, offering handmade items, baked goods, and a raffle.

Please join them on Bridge Street in Phoenixville, and show your support in the battle against cancer by bringing a baked item to sell, making a purchase, or simply stop by to say hello!

Thank you!

Friday was a wonderful evening to work for Relay for Life.

I'm very proud of the efforts of my family and all our friends who donated beautifully made pink ribbons, delicious homemade baked goods, candies, and donated baseball memorabilia to the cause.

God bless everyone.

First Friday was awesome. Don't they close the road? Traffic was nuts and there were too many people wandering and crossing the streets.

So sorry I missed Friday's events, but as a fellow breast cancer survivor I send you many healing wishes.
