In a telephone conversation late this afternoon, Councilman Ken Buckwalter confirmed the resignation, effective today, of Middle Ward Council Member Michael Handwerk.
Persons living in the Middle Ward interested in appointment to the vacancy should submit a resume` to Phoenixville Borough Hall or call the borough hall at 610-933-8801 for further information.

Another Council Resignation
I received a phone call last evening from Councilman Handwerk informing me that he was resinging from Council effective today, Wednesday January 26, 2011.
Council will need to fill the seat within the next 30 days and the person appointed, if they so wish, will also have to place their name on the primary and ultimately the November ballot for election.
This is the third resignation of a Council Member in less than a year. Henry Wagner resigned last Spring followed by Jeff Senley last fall.

Why did he resign?
It's also pretty amazing that not one single news source has picked up on this. If it wasn't here and on Ken's blog, no one would know. He apparently did shut down his own blog at the same time. It's like it didn't even happen. Go figure.
I was told the resignation was for personal reasons, and I'm sorry I don't have any further information.
With regards the news services, yes, that is rather strange it hasn't been either in the Mercury or the online Phoenix.
Maybe they don't know?
