Obituary - Chief John Kalavik

Former Phoenixville Police Chief John Kalavik passed away on Sunday March 06, 2011.

Chief Kalavik began his career as an officer with the Phoenixville Police Department in 1971, and was appointed Acting Chief in 1993, a position he held until 1995.

In 1995, Kalavik accepted Phoenixville Borough Council's offer of appointment to Chief of Police and remained as Chief of the Police Department until his retirement in 2006.

John is survived by his wife, Linda, two daughters and grandchildren.

November 25, 1946 - March 7, 2011

John Kalavik, 64, husband of Linda A. (Vallier) Kalavik of Phoenixville, PA, died on Monday, March 7, 2011 in Phoenixville Hospital.

Born in Phoenixville, PA, he was the son of the late John M. and Eleanor M. (Sombers) Kalavik.

John served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era.

He served as a Patrolman, Sergeant and Police Chief of the Phoenixville Police Department.

He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Phoenixville, Elks Club in Pottstown, Veterans of Foreign War Post 1564 in Phoenixville, Fraternal Order of Policeand Police Chiefs Association.

Surviving in addition to his wife are:

Daughter: Karen wife of Melvin Leroy Garrett;

Daughter: Lora wife of Anthony Laskowsky;

6 Grandchildren

Relatives and Friends are invited to attend his Funeral Mass in Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 219 Dayton Street, Phoenixville, PA on Saturday, March 12, 2011 at 10:00 am with Rev. Michael W. Rzonca officiating.

Burial will follow in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Phoenixville, PA.

In lieu of flowers the family requests Mass Cards
