God has other plans for me!

It's His will that will be done, not ours.

At the time of this writing, almost 1 a.m., the unofficial results for the East Ward race still have not been posted to the Chester County website. The East 3 results are the only precincts tallied.

Rather than give information which has yet to be verified, I'll wait until morning to post the figures.

I do know that my opponent won the seat for the East Ward.

My congratulations to him.

To the voters of the East Ward, I wish to thank you for all the votes I received. I am humbled by your confidence in me.

Once again, I must thank my loyal supporters, I saw the disappointment in your faces this evening, and I know the hope you invested in my campaign.

Remember that I am not far, I'm going nowhere. I will remain proactive, and at times, I'm sure reactive to news that affects our daily lives. And, if ever I can be of service to anyone in our community, I am here.

Of this I am certain.

God has plans for me!

Thank you, everyone.

God Bless you, and God Bless Phoenixville!

The voters will get what they voted for and I hope at that point they will regret voting for Speck. The only ones to blame are the people that voted and the people that didn't. God Bless Phoenixville being left in the hands of ignorance.

It's over and the results are in. I'm sorry that you lost the race, but I'm even more sorry that, as usual, voter turnout in the East wards was only 31%.

East 1 was 30%
East 2 was 35%

And my ward, East 3, was a mere 27% of the total registered voters.

I wonder what the outcome would have been if we could have gotten a 50% or more turnout.

I find it very disheartening that more registered voters do not come out for local elections. People, do you understand that these councilmen, school board members, and county commissioners make the rules that control your local taxes?

If you haven't seen fit to make a thoughtful choice and show up at the polls, why have you opted to register to vote?

Admittedly more voters might not have changed the outcome of any aspects of this election, but again, if YOU didn't vote, YOU evidently didn't care - and if YOU don't care, why even register to vote?

And Karen, thanks again for taking the time out of your normally busy schedule to run for office. I know it's been a strain on you and your family. I also know that you put your heart and soul into all your endeavors. Again, thanks for giving us a choice.

Maybe the turnout was low because of the lack of parking in two of the voting polls? Lets face it when its cold outside and there isn't a parking space at the library for a mile well a person might reconsider voting. This needs to change. It should not be hard to vote.
Or maybe people just dont care about how much they are going to pay in taxes?- well I do.

Karen, your answers to the questions posed by the Phoenix and your statements about your qualification and vision were compelling and show what a great fellow citizen you are. Your voice has been so important on any number of issues and has been expressed well. Please change the name of this blog to "Karen Johns for Phoenixville" and keep us up to date with your ideas and concerns as we all move forward.

Karen, I thought I voted for you yesterday by voting straight Democrat. My daughter and her husband did the same, voted straight Democrat.

How many votes went to Speck because people didn't know how to vote to get you in?

The people I talked to this morning cannot belive you lost because of this.

We just want to say we are sorry for your loss and for the loss to Phoenixville.

Let's give the voters a little credit here...I think most people know how to read a ballot and vote. And let's not pretend that parking caused the low turnout.

The better candidate won. 'Nuff said.

Speck contacted over 1000 voters. How many homes did Karen knock at? Stop creating excuses, the candidate who worked harder won.

To Anonymous who voted a straight ticket ----- And to ALL others who voted a straight ticket............

Just when have you seen a straight ticket for ANY party that had ALL the BEST candidates?

Not in my lifetime!

There were over 400 straight party Democratic ticket punches. Unfortunately the East Ward was only at the average of punches. I wish Karen well. I wish she would have won, the Borough would have been better off...

Poster 3:26, how long have you been analyzing elections?

I am just one of Karen's campaign workers and I saw and heard people tell her they voted straight ticket FOR her.

There were 105 Democrats who voted straight ticket in her precints. How many of them thought they were voting for Karen?

If you think the better candidate won, you do not deserve a candidate the caliber and qualifications of Karen Johns.

'Nuff said.

Speck may have had all the time in the world to knock on 1,000 doors. Karen has a large family and leads a busy life. Don't forget her family just lost a close loved one, too.

To Anonymous 5:30pm. you sound much like Mr. Speck in his article in the Phoenix back in May, the apple must not fall far from the tree.

It was very clear that Speck was the Democratic candidate for the East ward.We saw it on the many yard signs that were at the homes of East ward folks.
The answer to your question about the 105 straight Dems vote Who may have wanted to vote for Johns is 4.According to your info. Speck won by 39 votes.Let's make him work for all of us! Semper Fi
