We're baaaaaack!

By the time we reached the Vale Rio tonight, a line was formed out the door and onto the sidewalk.

Although I made reservations for the last day before the diner's closing I had my doubts as to whether they would be able to accomdate 21 people even with the advance notice.

Earlier today, the Vale Rio was featured on Channel 6 Action News. The breakfast crowd was shown on camera packing the dining room as well as the booths and stools.

Each person interviewed spoke of their remorse over losing a 60 year landmark and wished their best for the owners and staff.

This afternoon, while on an errand, I noticed another reporter and camera crew from an unidentified station conducting more interviews so look for the late news tonight!

My worries about enough seating were for naught as we were ushered into the dining room, and as we passed through the diner, almost every seat was taken by familiar faces. What a great send off and show of local support!

My family and I took up a good portion of the dining room for about two hours and added a big burden to our already very busy waitress Helen and waiter Nito.

Pleasant, accomdating, and always smiling, our meals were served by Helen and Nito while we enjoyed conversations with each other and our neighboring tables.

With seven children in tow ranging from age 9 to 1 year, the din in the dining room must have raised 100%. For the most part the kids were on good behavior while we shared our last meal at the Vale Rio's Nutt Road location.

I hope you had a chance for a last visit, and please keep the Vale Rio in mind as I'm sure they will need public support in the future as they find a new home in the borough.

For the time being it's farewell, Vale Rio!

Job well done!
